Relational Genius - Taking Psychology Out of the Box and Into Living Rooms and Boardrooms

For years, psychology has been associated primarily with mental, emotional and behavioral health concerns. While these issues are valid and the application of psychology can be life-changing, the limited scope minimizes the opportunities to optimize other areas of life and business.

Relational Genius seeks to take psychology outside of the textbook and into the real lives of business leaders, organizations, and people with High Achieving personalities who value excellence. The series focuses on down-to-earth explanations and specific tactics for time-crunched leaders who love to learn and need to execute quickly. Applied emotional intelligence integrates with principles from organizational psychology, social psychology, and experimental psychology to provide a holistic approach.

Relational Genius: The High Achiever's Guide to Soft-Skill Confidence in Leadership and Life

A lot of smart people don’t talk about the conundrums of dealing with themselves and others because it makes them feel stupid. I want them to know that they are not alone, but also to provide concise, actionable advice. In my appointments with High Achievers, I found myself having recurring conversations about applied emotional intelligence, and I wanted that content to be available to a broader audience.

This book is written as a resource so that people can pick and choose whatever information applies to them, and more importantly, find it quickly when they need it. One of my favorite parts is the section on identifying and dealing with difficult people, as I’ve used this information repeatedly to induce sanity in my own life and help mitigate risk for the clients I serve. You may also want to check out the end section called “How Do I Say That?,” which was inspired by the number of times people whipped out the phone as I wordsmithed conversational scripts for sticky interactions.

Relational Genius provides tactics and strategies that apply to most people but will especially resonate with those with High Achiever Personalities . The book is organized with an extended table of contents to help you in a time crunch, bulleted lists for readability, and a few cartoons to make you happy.

Personal Fuel: An Adlerian Approach to Self-Confidence: People tell me I'm amazing but I never feel good enough.

Self-confidence workbook
A lot of people are skilled and successful but still struggle with feeling that they are fundamentally flawed. Alfred Adler, a psychologist, had a theory about the way early hurt can cause us to doubt ourselves and then work really hard to feel “good enough. ” This workbook contains a little story to illustrate each concept and questions that help readers apply the information to their own lives. The goal is to help everyone feel more confident about the unique aspects they bring to the table. It may be especially helpful for people who think outside the box but still want to fit in.
